Projects and Initiatives

Lafayette Students for Racial Justice

In June 2020, a coalition of 20+ student organizations came together to raise money for and spread awareness about topics of racial justice. The initiative, which was spearheaded by Equity and Inclusion Committee members Lidya Abebe '22, Maria Salmeron-Melendez '21, and Fatimata Cham '23, involved the partnering of student groups to research and educate their peers about topics such as the school to prison pipeline, while raising money for three organizations supporting Black communities. In a period of two weeks, the movement raised over $22,000 for Black Lives Matter New York, the Power Bail Fund of the Lehigh Valley, and the Atlanta-based Homeless Black Trans Women Fund.

Pard Pantry

Founded in 2019, the Pard Pantry was designed to provide students with necessary food and supplies while they remained on campus during school breaks. During COVID, Pard Pantry became an indispensable resource to students who could not return home. The pantry operates out of the Farinon College Center basement.
