What can Student Government do for you?
The Student Government serves as the liaison between the student body, the faculty, and the college administration. Comprised of twenty-seven representatives representing each class year, the Student Government strives to address the needs of the students in collaboration with the requisite administrators and departments of the college.
How can we help?
The Student Government meets on Thursdays at 7 p.m. Lafayette community members are welcome to attend!
It’s hard to believe that we are already a third of the way through this semester, but Student Government has been hard at work. We are preparing for the upcoming election season by electing a new Executive Board and representatives for the Class of 2029. Please look forward to more information. To highlight a few initiatives that have been worked on in the past month, the Student Government Delegate system has selected 10 clubs for this pilot program. We do this in hopes of creating better connections between the Student Government and the Student Organizations. The Student Life team has worked on the Campus Life Initiative, which focuses on adding informal outdoor recreational equipment around campus and more furniture for the Marlo Room. Additionally, the DEI Committee has hosted Club and Organization DEI Forums, providing opportunities for active discussions with identity-based clubs to foster an equitable and inclusive environment. Other initiatives include Sustainability’s work with the Climate Action Plan, Academic Affairs’ collaboration with the Library, and the Constitutional Rewrite’s efforts to revise our Constitution. We are so glad to have such an engaged community this year. We thank all who have attended our General Body Meetings and look forward to October.
